The Beast Within: Project Scorpio's Power and Specs Revealed!

Today Digital Foundry confirmed what we were all expecting.  That Xbox's current Project Scorpio is an absolute juggernaut and once released will be the most powerful console in existence.  Scorpio will deliver performances that were previously not possible on console in terms of framerate, resolution, and computing.  The numbers are in and here is what we are looking at:

CPU: Eight custom x86 cores

GPU: 6 teraflops

RAM: 12GB GDDR5

Memory bandwidth: 326GB/s

Vapor-chamber cooling

1TB Hard Drive

It's also been said that even WITHOUT Scorpio patches the new console will increase the performance of existing Xbox One S and backward compatible games and those games should see improvements in terms of framerate, load times, and resolution.  Digital Foundry ran a stress test with Forza 6 and the game ran natively at 4K resolution and 60 fps while using only 60-70% of the console's power.

No price has been stated as of yet but there will be more information on Project Scorpio in the coming weeks and you can bet the Lions are going to be all over it. E3 can't come soon enough.

Halo Wars 2 and Forza Horizon 3 Bundles Announced

MS announced to day two new bundles for the Xbox One S. One that includes Forza Horizon 3 and one for the highly anticipated RTS sequel Halo Wars 2.  The Xbox One S Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition Bundle is choked full of goodies.  It will feature a 1TB Xbox One S, controller, a 14-day Xbox Live Gold membership, and Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition.  This also includes the season pass, four days of early access starting February 17, and Halo Wars: Definitive Edition.  The Halo Wars 2 bundle will cost you $350 bones but for what's offered it seems like a pretty decent deal.

The Xbox One S Forza Horizon 3 bundle is available with both the 1TB or 500GB Xbox One S.  The 1TB will hit you for $350 and the 500GB will hit you for $300.  Both come with Forza Horizon 3, a controller, and a 14-day Xbox Live Gold membership.

Halo Wars 2 Blitz Beta Available Now

The Halo Wars 2 Blitz beta is now available for download and will be playable until January 30th.  Blitz mode adds an entirely new twist to Halo Wars RTS gameplay. In addition to contesting for key control points, Blitz has you choosing a deck of 12 cards that correspond to different units.  You also choose a leader whose unique abilities are governed by cards.

Microsoft Cancels Scalebound

Microsoft has officially pulled the plug on Scalebound, the Xbox One exclusive developed by Platinum Games. Rumours began swirling early this afternoon and MS made it official this evening. This comes as a bit of a shock as Scalebound was well into development and was scheduled for a 2017 release. Microsoft did not expand on why the game was cancelled and offered no other details. For those anticipating the game this is certainly a disappointment but fortunately there are still some great exclusives to look forward to in 2017 for The Box.

Injustice 2 Release Date Revealed

The long awaited sequel to Injustice has finally been given a release date. According to WB Injustice 2 will make is heroic presence felt on May 16 2017. As big fans of the original we're looking forward to this game. Favorites like Superman and Batman are joined by newcomers like Grodd and Atrocitous. Of course the game will feature Netherrealm's classic Mortal Kombat-eqse fighting and action.

Mass Effect Andromeda Release Date Revealed

Mass Effect Andromeda, the newest entry in the long running Mass Effect series has finally been given a release date.  Bioware has stated that Mass Effect Andromeda will release on March 21 in North America and on March 23 worldwide.  This is sooner than many expected, which IMO is a very good thing

The Mass Effect series is beloved by gamers for it's rich story telling and engrossing game play.  Andromeda has much to live up to but we are eager and excited nonetheless.

Top Three Slept On Games of 2016

Depending on who you talk to 2016 was a bit of a mess. That said, some pretty good games showed up in 2016. So much so that a few really good games ended up flying under the radar. Some games were well received but still didn't blow like we thought they would. So here are our picks for the most slept on games of 2016.

DOOM Doom was well received by critics and fans and did well despite lofty expectations. However despite being an outstanding remake to a classic game Doom really didn't blow up like we expected. As good as Doom is, rarely is it mentioned as one of the best FPS of last year.

X-Com 2 X-Com 2 is a brilliant turn based strategy game with a compelling story and engaging gameplay. Few things will get you in your feels quite like the permanent death of your high level soldiers that you've named after your homies. This is a title I personally thought should've gotten much more love. I still recommend this game to anyone looking to try something different.

Far Cry Primal I loved this game from beginning to end. Hunting, taming prehistoric beasts, fighting against rival tribes, and building your village is all masterfully done. This game definitely deserved more attention than it got. If you can find it cheap you should absolutely pick this game up.
