Our Top 3 Fixes for NBA 2K17

The NBA 2K franchise has grown into one of the best sims on the market.  A couple of years ago it surpassed EA Sports' Madden series as the number one selling video game sports sim.  For the most part 2K deserves it's success.  2K has steadily improved the quality of the series and the result is some of the finest hardwood action you can play.  NBA 2K is superior to any other basketball sim and has all but buried the competition.  The once renowned NBA Live series is not even in the same league as NBA 2K.  Visual Concepts is to be applauded for their efforts.

But that's not to say that 2K is perfect.  There are several annoying things that persist in the game and if NBA 2K is to continue to improve these long standing issues need to be address.  So here are 5 essential fixes that we believe need to happen immediately so that NBA 2K17 can continue to bear the same standard of excellence players have now come to expect.

3.  Servers and Online Play
NBA 2K has a notorious reputation for spotty, and sometimes downright online play.  Connectivity issues, server issues, input lag, and a host of other issues can sometimes REALLY hurt the online experience.  It's annoying.  What's more these issues have persisted for several years.  There is no excuse for this.  While I'm not going to hold my breath for dedicated servers, I fully expect these issues to get fixed.  Get it right VC.  Players deserve better.  No one wants to deal with another year of dropped games, being unable to load MyCareer, terrible input lag, and being unable to connect to games.  Fix this.

2. Unrealistic Gameplay
Realism is something that defines 2K.  The game on the court mirrors it's real life counterpart in a way that is both enjoyable and exciting.  Yet there are times when the game play is really off and it will have you screaming at your TV and tossing your controller.  It's not often, but when it happens it's jarring.  For example, dunks get blocked WAY too much.  Both online and offline.  You are going to watch a lot of basketball before you see Tony Parker block Dwight Howard's dunk under the basket.  It also happens in MyCareer.  Having a second string 2 guard block my dunk when I'm a 255lbs power forward with a 95 dunk rating and a gold posterizer badge is ridiculous.  Defensively players do not guard the perimeter.  Turnovers happen way too often.  It's one thing to make a poor pass.  But Chris Paul is not going to lose the ball off the dribble 8 times in a basketball game.  The double team is also REALLY easy to exploit.   Last year you guys talked about taking the cheese out.  Well there is still a ton of cheese in the fridge.

1.  Stop Making Me Start Over in MyCareer

My Player/My Career is one of the coolest things about NBA 2K.  There are many players who ONLY play My Career.  I know I speak for at least some of them when I say I'm TIRED of starting over as a rookie.  Let us carry our saves over.  It would be a really cool feature.  Also please take out the scripted stuff.  No disrespect to Spike Lee but Living Da Dream was near pointless.  Let me control my own destiny and my own story.  Please leave that stuff out.

NBA 2K has evolved into a fantastic series and I have no doubts that NBA 2K17 will be phenomenal.  But I'd really like to see some of this stuff at least get addressed.  I know I'm not the only one.  Make it happen Visual Concepts.
