Normally we don't do sales articles and blog posts but this was an interesting story. Xbox One lead console sales for the month of July according to NPD. During this generation MS has trailed Sony and with the exception of a few months PlayStation has been the top selling console. The last time MS led Sony in monthly console sales was October of last year(driven heavily by the release of Halo 5).
What makes this month interesting is the fact that MS lead July ahead of the impending release of the Xbox One S. With the release of an upgraded console looming many thought that the sales of the Xbox One might slow a bit. The general thought was that people would simply wait until August. But instead, thanks largely do to some great deals, the Xbox One was able to surge during the month.
As I said at the top we're not sales analysts over here. We're gamers. You're not going to read a lot of sales stories over here. That said, this is good news for the Xbox brand and it shows that consumers are still interested in good deals and a good product. Also, even though we are an Xbox-centric blog, we're gamers first and credit has to be given to Sony and PlayStation. Healthy competition breeds excellence and so here's hoping that Xbox AND PlayStation continue to see success.
